SOLID WASTE COLLECTION SCHEDULE

The Sangaree Community consists of twenty-one subdivisions and two apartment complexes and the subdivisions are divided into two groups for Solid Waste Collection. There are approximately 2,800 potentially occupied residences.

ALL SOLID WASTE MUST BE AT THE CURB FOR COLLECTION BY 7:00 A.M. ON EACH SERVICE DAY.

THE SERVICE PROVIDER HAS UNTIL 6:00 P.M. ON THE DAY OF SERVICE BEFORE IT BECOMES A MISSED SERVICE.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE: Since the landfill is closed, there will be no service on the following holidays

New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

Collection schedule will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week after the holiday.

MISSED COLLECTION SERVICE: Residents should leave their Solid Waste at the curb and report the missed collection service when it happens so make-up service can be requested.

SEVERE WEATHER: After a severe weather event (tropical storm, hurricane, tornado, etc.) special instructions will be available when changes in collection service occur.

PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF SOLID WASTE REGULATIONS: Citations with fines up to $500 may be issued for the following violations:

Scavenging of recycling bins
Transporting of uncovered debris
Curbside placement of solid waste that is not included in the collection services provided.

ITEMS NOT INCLUDED IN COLLECTION SERVICE: Residential solid waste collection service is not intended for Sangaree Parkway, Berkeley Drive or any green area. Curbside collection service is limited to residential streets.

Hazardous materials such as paint, anti-freeze, used motor oil, used oil filters, etc. For further information on disposal locations and proper disposal guidelines contact the Landfill at 572-4400.
Construction & Demolition materials (C&D) from building and remodeling projects (including carpet and padding), landscape timbers, pool liners and pallets.
The resident is responsible for proper disposal of any item not included in the collection service.
Berkeley County Litter Control can enforce clean up of improperly placed solid waste materials.

SPECIAL COLLECTION: Sangaree Special Tax District offers a special collection service for items that are not included in the standard curbside service. Call the Sangaree office at 871-9720 for more information. (An appropriate fee is collected.)

CONVENIENCE CENTER: The Berkeley County Landfill offers a Convenience Center for the disposal of most residential waste at no cost to residents (NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES). The center is located on Oakley Road off Hwy 17-A near Moncks Corner.

Asphalt roofing shingles are not accepted at the Convenience Center, but are accepted at the Landfill. Call the Landfill for details.
